Day twelve 20/03/2012

Penguins are effective communicators, especially with their mates. Both male and female penguins will work together to care for the babies!

Visited the International Antartica Center. Enjoyed the chilly atmosphere of Antartica and the awesome 4D movie. Children are excited in exploring the Snow & Ice Room, experiencing the Antarctic Storm. I personally enjoy the most seeing the little blue penguins, brave the new 4D Theater. Back to Malaysia.

Intended to go for whale watching. However, the outing was canceled due to the bad weather and rough sea. Instead, we have gone for shopping and bought some awesome souvenirs.

We put on our swimming suits and relaxed ourselves in the hot springs in Hammer Spring. Hanmer Springs is New Zealand’s premier alpine spa destination. We all have fun and relax in the thermal pools. Besides, we enjoyed the rock and sulphur pools and the popular family activity.

Visited the Shantytown, heritage park along the west coast of NZ. Shantytown is a tourist attraction in the West Coast Region of the South Island of New Zealand. We have the wonderful experiences such as bush sawmill, gold mining, and traveled in a steam railway.

Day eight 16/03/2012

Puzzling World in Wanaka, New Zealand


Visited the leaning tower of NZ, puzzling house and maze in Wanaka. Stuart Landsborough’s Puzzling World is in fact a world unique attraction specializing in puzzling eccentricity. We moved on our journey to Haast and went to toy and transport museum. We have fish and chips in Jackson Bay. We enjoyed the wonderful meal there. However, there were hundreds of sand flies and we were attacked by these horrible insects and my legs suffered from itchiness due to their kisses.

Another day in Quenstown. Francis, Angeline and children have gone for the horse trekking and it was such a unique and wonderful experience for them. We also explored the Glenorchy paradise to Routebum which enable us to enjoy the scenic sights of “Lord of the Ring”. Lake Wakatipu lies Glenorchy, gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park and Te Wahipounamu, Internationally recognized for its exceptional beauty.

Quenstown is a developed city. We enjoy the challenging activities such as jet boating which is a real thriving activity. Range of different jet boating could be found to suit the desire of individuals (range from scenic options to the flat out thrills of the world famous shoot over jet). Another marvelous activity was the luge ride. The children really enjoyed the luge ride which was the skyline Gindola high above Quesnstown. We felt that such racy luge would test our driving skills in a series of downhill hairpin bands. My heart was beating fast during the race of the fast track. I also managed to watch the Hakka dance which was a wonderful cultural dance by the Maoris.

Traveled by cruise to Milford Sound. We managed to see the Mitri Peak. Milford Sound is a world-renowned natural wonder. The mountains of the Fiordland stand so tall, straight out of the sea and create marvelous scenes.
