Wonderful Trips to Rome 27 Octobfer till 3 November 2012

Rome is quite a modern, industrialized nation, with an artistic and archtectural legacy that many other countries can rival. In town and villages, life grinds to a half in the middle of the day for a long lunch, and it's strongly family oriented. There is an emphasis on the traditions of the catholic churches. I notice that most of the Italian know how to enjoy life and embrace their life to the full. For example, they placed importance in good food, clothes and images. I have been to Castelli Romani "Castle of Romes". It is a group of communes south-east to Rome, at the feet of the Alban Hills. The areas occupies an ancient volcanic area which allowed flourishing agriculture. The former crater is occupied by two lakes. I have been told that the Popes still have their summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, on the Lake of Albano.

The coach brought us to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain, it is one of the most panoramic viesw in the hill towns. Down below, Rocca di Papa is a tangle of old streets and churches. The area is renowned for the production of wine, especially the white whine of Frascati. I have taken a proper lunch on the hill which includes pasta (spaghetti al congole, white wine and roasted meat).

I have presented my paper at the American University of Rome on 31 October 2012. During the refreshment time, I met Peter and he brought me to the Vatican museums by taxi. The Musei Vatican, or Vatican museums located at Viale Vaticano, a fifteen minutes walk from St Peter's church. This museums stuffed with really enough exibits to put most other European collections to shame. They displays classical statuary, Renaissance painting, Etruscan relics, Egyptian artefacts. The furnishings and decoration of the building was just amazing. I can stay there admiring the great painting for hours without feeling tired. However, Peter and were a bit disappointed for not being able to view the sistine chapel. We have dinner in a restaurent nearby before saying goodbye. The atmosphere there was good and we enjoyed each other company.
